Lurchers are a crossbreed — typically a sighthound (greyhound, whippet, saluki) crossed with a herding or working breed. The result is a fast, intelligent, affectionate dog with the speed of a sighthound and the trainability of a collie. Bob is a Lurcher aged 3 years currently in the care of RSPCA. Lurchers are common in rescue, particularly in Ireland where they were used for hare coursing.
