Gypsy

Meet Gypsy, an 11 year old female Poodle Cross Jack Russell Terrier. Gypsy came to us in a poor state, and it appears she previously lived outdoors, possibly under a caravan. Her expectations of human care were minimal, and she would not come into the house unless encouraged. She has had a couple of litters in her past. Despite this neglect, Gypsy is the sweetest little girl we have fostered. She has a gentle and affectionate nature and is an absolute joy to be around. Her only quirk is that she becomes excited by the scent of foxes and may bark. Gypsy was not initially house-trained, but after three days of constant monitoring she is now clean in the house and no longer needs to be crated at night. She has settled beautifully and continues to be a very good girl. Health-wise, Gypsy is on a raw diet as it is clear she is allergic to kibble. Her ears require daily cleaning, and she was previously chewing her paws, which has reduced significantly. Her paws are not in poor condition. Gypsy is friendly with people and other dogs but is not suitable to live with cats. She is independent in nature and tends to do her own thing, calmly ignoring most distractions. She is food-oriented and would be happy living with another friendly dog. Two 30-minute walks per day suit her well, as she enjoys getting out and about and is now comfortable walking off lead. Gypsy would make a wonderful companion for an older person, provided she continues on a raw diet and receives her daily walks. She will need ongoing help with ear care and is slightly deaf, although her hearing has improved as her ears have been cleaned. The ear canals remain somewhat swollen due to past neglect. Gypsy now loves the warmth and comfort of indoor life and enjoys choosing between the sofa and her bed. This lovely little girl truly deserves a caring home with a garden where she can enjoy her retirement years in comfort.
